The market success of Process Mining won over the Entrepreneurship Day’s jury featuring renowned names from the ranks of TUM: For their innovative business model based on this big data technology, Celonis founders Alexander Rinke, Bastian Nominacher and Martin Klenk collected the Presidential Entrepreneurship Award honoring outstanding TUM spin-off companies on October 19, 2015.
The award was presented at the TUM Entrepreneurship Day, comprising a trade fair, panel discussion and the award ceremony with award gala, at the recently established TUM Entrepreneurship Center in Garching. Dr. Evelyn Ehrenberger, TUM-Vice President for Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property, presented the award to the winners. The award is accompanied by 10,000 Euro from the Bund der Freunde der TU e.V.
“Only thanks to the right business idea and hard work were we able to grow from a promising startup company into a global technology firm”, says Alexander Rinke, co-founder and CEO of Celonis GmbH. “The Presidential Entrepreneurship Award is a major award honoring the achievements of each of our by-now 60 employees, many of whom are associated with the TUM.” Celonis GmbH was founded in 2011 and with its Process Mining Technology it offers the most powerful tool worldwide for analyzing and optimizing IT-supported business processes.
Company founders Alexander Rinke (mathematician), Bastian Nominacher (business IT specialist) and Martin Klenk (IT specialist) met while studying at TUM. The company name Celonis was inspired by the Greek God “Celos” whose name means “aspiration” and “striving”. “We had a grand vision from the beginning”, explains Rinke.
The Presidential Entrepreneurship Award continues the success of the Process Mining Technology leader: The Celonis software was recently added to the distribution of SAP. This marked the first time in the history of the innovative SAP Startup Focus cooperation program that software developed by a startup company was added to the master price list of the international IT company.
