CELONIS NEWS & PRESS.
Oracle’s 2016 CIO of the Year, Rick Hassman from Pella Corp., and Celonis co-founder, Alex Rinke, scheduled to present at Oracle OpenWorld on October 2
MUNICH & NEW YORK (September 19, 2017) – Celonis, the leading provider of a new category of big data analytics technology called Process Mining, today announced that Pella Corporation, a leading manufacturer and designer of windows and doors, is deploying its process mining solution as the capstone of a multi-year digital transformation initiative. On October 2, Pella’s CIO, Rick Hassman, and Celonis’ co-founder and CEO, Alex Rinke, will take the stage at Oracle OpenWorld to introduce process mining and discuss how this breakthrough technology can improve margins, business agility and customer service.
For nearly a century, Pella has remained at the forefront of building innovative, high-quality windows and doors. To ensure it maintains a position of industry leadership for years to come, the company has undergone a major digital transformation to modernize all aspects of its business, ranging from field service to sales, finance, supply chain, warehouse, manufacturing and distribution centers. The project is considered to be one of the most impactful strategic initiatives in the company’s 92-year history.
Rick Hassman, Pella’s CIO and recipient of Oracle’s 2016 CIO of the Year Award, led the vision and execution of the project.
“To enable Pella’s growth strategy, we continue our longstanding journey with Oracle to transform our technology stack and business systems. The success of this ongoing digital transformation has allowed the business to identify ‘Integrated IT Systems’ as a strategic competitive advantage,” said Hassman. “We are now partnering with Celonis to mine the process data from these systems and drive productivity improvement and complexity reduction across the business. The analytics that Celonis creates with their Process Mining tools are extremely powerful and actionable. With this partnership, we are very excited to take our continuous improvement efforts at Pella to a new level.”
Process Mining works by ingesting event logs from all of an organization’s existing IT systems, analyzing the logs, and providing a real-time visual map of the way processes are occurring. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, process mining can show business leaders where processes are breaking down, prioritize issues that are having the biggest impact, and provide prescriptive recommendations to fix them quickly.
For example, Celonis Process Mining can be used to analyze purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash processes, two areas where Pella will begin focusing first. With process mining, organizations like Pella can track every step of these processes to see where, and how frequently, operations are deviating from the ideal path. Businesses can instantly identify bottlenecks like late deliveries by suppliers, which can be corrected to streamline supply chain and manufacturing operations, or where internal processes for paying vendors are breaking down, which can be eliminated to reduce wasted time and money. And they can see these things without even knowing where to look for them.
“Traditional analytics, even most forms of advanced analytics, require a hypothesis about where to look and what to look for – it’s like shining a spotlight. Process mining is different because it turns all the lights on and automatically provides visibility into an entire organization,” said Alex Rinke, co-founder and CEO of Celonis. “As the recipient of Oracle’s CIO of the Year Award, Rick is clearly the authority on digital transformation and a leader in his field, so the investment that he and Pella have made in Celonis is a testament to the value that process mining will provide. We’re looking forward to sharing this revolutionary new technology with OpenWorld attendees.”
Hassman and Rinke will deliver an Executive Solution Session about the value of Process Mining on Monday, October 2nd at Oracle OpenWorld, which takes place from October 1-5, 2017 in San Francisco, California.

Celonis today announced that it has been selected as a recipient of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s SDCE 100 Award for 2017 for its work with global telecommunications company, Vodafone.
New York, NY— June 22, 2017 – Celonis today announced that it has been selected as a recipient of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s SDCE 100 Award for 2017 for its work with global telecommunications company, Vodafone. With Celonis Process Mining, Vodafone was able to fully understand its end-to-end processes and achieve 100 percent transparency into business operations, creating a significant cost reduction and improved time to market.
Vodafone’s challenge was to transform its massive purchasing operations and adapt back-end processes to match changing business demands. With the goal of increasing the number of “perfect purchase orders” and achieving business excellence, Vodafone used Celonis Process Mining to explore massive amounts of data to reconstruct what actually happens in business processes, spot inefficiencies and suggest improvements automatically.
“Many organizations operate in the dark when it comes to business process efficiency because they have no way to see if they’re wasting time, energy and resources with poorly executed processes, or if processes are actually running as designed,” said Alexander Rinke, co-CEO and co-founder of Celonis. “Process Mining provides the visibility companies need and our work with Vodafone shows how it can help an organization truly understand their supply chain so decision makers can pinpoint inefficiencies and fine-tune operations. We’re extremely proud that we’ve been able to help Vodafone build on its world-class supply chain operation and that the exceptional work they’ve done is being recognized by a leading industry voice like Supply & Demand Chain Executive.”
The SDCE 100 is an annual list of 100 great supply chain projects. The projects honored can serve as a map for supply chain executives who are looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations. The projects show how supply chain solutions and service providers help their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence and prepare their supply chains for success.
“Our goal with 2017’s Top 100 is to shine the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the supply chain,” says Ronnie Garrett, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The selected projects can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations. We congratulate all of our winners for a job well done!”
