Process mining from Celonis to support ERGO in process control and optimisation
ERGO and the software company Celonis have entered into a strategic partnership. As both companies announced today at the Celosphere-Conference in Munich, they will work together through 2025 to improve and better manage process flows within the ERGO Group. In the course of the partnership, Celonis’ Execution Management System (EMS) will be further optimised for use in the insurance industry. The latest software functions will be tested at ERGO, internationally and across all lines of business. ERGO will be working closely with the Celonis product teams to do so. ERGO, in turn, has set up its own process mining unit in its ERGO Digital Ventures division, which is gradually making the solution known and rolling it out within the Group.
Mark Klein, Chief Digital Officer of ERGO Group AG and Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Digital Ventures AG, said about the new cooperation: “With process mining, we at ERGO are taking another important step towards becoming a data-driven company. Celonis’ process mining gives us incredibly detailed analyses of our procedural data and workflows. It thus becomes much easier for each department to independently monitor and optimise its own processes in real time. This is important, not only to identify potential for improvement in today’s economically challenging times, but also to become more resilient overall – and thus to be well-positioned for the future.”
Alex Rinke, co-founder and co-CEO of Celonis, adds: “Process mining is the decisive technological tool for companies that want to significantly improve the quality of their processes. ERGO is one of the pioneers in this field and, together with Celonis, is developing new approaches to make even complex industry-typical processes more efficient, thereby increasing productivity and enhancing customer satisfaction. The extensive cooperation between both companies is leading to ground-breaking results, which we will also be incorporating into the further development of our software.”
For ERGO and Celonis, the strategic partnership is the continuation of an initial number of successful projects in 2021 and 2022. What began with between two and seven internal use cases in Germany, Thailand, Greece and the United Kingdom, now comprises 28 internationally planned processes from different departments until mid-2024. A total of 55 processes internationally are planned by the end of 2025.
ERGO intends to continue to use process mining to make its processes consistently more customer-friendly, for example by further reducing claim-settlement times. In addition, the technology is intended to help identify possible potential to optimise core areas and further drive the Group’s digital transformation, while opening up new use cases for applications that have already been successfully implemented, such as voice, artificial intelligence or robotics. This should lead to further optimisations in areas such as customer satisfaction, quality, efficiency and productivity.
ERGO is represented in around 30 countries worldwide, concentrating on the core and growth markets in Europe and Asia.
