Celonis Process Intelligence Day Milan Showcases the Power of Process Intelligence + AI
Milan, June 12, 2025 – Celonis, a global leader in Process Mining, today brought together leading Italian enterprises, business decision-makers and partners at Process Intelligence Day in Milan. Taking place in over 20 cities around the world, the event series is a showcase for the latest developments in Process Intelligence, AI, and data-driven process optimization. Through roundtables, case studies, and technology demonstrations, attendees heard how leading Italian enterprises are managing the operational complexity of their businesses and making their supply chains more resilient using Celonis Process Intelligence.
“The current economic and geopolitical landscape presents organizations with increasing complexity and rapid change. To navigate this environment effectively, more and more businesses are using AI, enabled by process intelligence, to improve their processes and drive performance,” said Andrea Carboni, Country Leader Italy at Celonis. “Celonis Process Intelligence gives AI the process knowledge and business context to make it effective. That’s why we strongly believe for the enterprise ‘there’s no AI without PI’.”
Celonis provides Process Intelligence by combining process data and business context to create a digital twin of business operations — the Process Intelligence Graph (PI Graph). The Celonis Platform (with the PI Graph as its heart) reveals where value is trapped in a company’s processes and drives the actions to capture it—increasingly by using AI. According to Celonis’ 2025 Process Optimization Report, 81% of over 1,600 global business leaders said their companies plan to use AI specifically to improve business processes in the next 12 months. Additionally, 89% said AI needs to have the context of how their business runs to deliver effective results. Celonis gives AI the input it needs to be effective for the enterprise, empowering faster, more-informed decisions and impactful actions.
During the event, Antonio Iavarone, Data & Analytics Officer with Iren Group, shared how the Italian multi-utility is using Celonis as part of the company’s digital transformation strategy to optimize its processes and improve customer satisfaction.
“Collaborations such as the one with Celonis are crucial to be able to identify all opportunities for value creation and to achieve operational excellence” said Iavarone. “After our success in the optimization of Customer Operations and Service processes and discovering the value brought by Process Intelligence, we are evaluating further areas of implementation to achieve rapid and data-driven improvements in order to take full advantage of all the opportunities being offered by the Celonis platform.”
Along with the customer presentations and product demonstrations, the event was also a platform for Women in Process Mining (WiPM) — a global community dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the field of process mining. Representatives from leading Italian companies in the energy, water and utilities sectors, such as Iren, joined Valore D, an Italian association of companies that helps organizations to promote inclusion, participated in discussion on “Women's Leadership and Enterprise Modernization: Protagonists of the Digital Future.” The panelists explored the strategic role of diversity as a driver of innovation, competitiveness and sustainability. They also examined the important role women play as leaders of digital transformation and process modernization. Celonis actively supports WiPM’s goal of bringing together the most influential women in the process mining industry to amplify their influence and inspire the next wave of female trailblazers in this dynamic space.
“The meeting was a valuable opportunity to share how women's leadership is actively contributing to the digital transformation of our companies. At Iren, we strongly believe that the inclusion and enhancement of women's talent are key levers for driving innovation and building more agile and sustainable organizational models. Discussing these issues allowed us to highlight the importance of an open and inclusive corporate culture, able to generate shared value and successfully meet the challenges of the digital future” said Maria Greco, Director of Information Technology and Systems at Iren Group.
Celonis has established a strong presence in Italy, and through collaboration with 16 leading Italian universities, such as Bocconi University, the University of Verona and La Sapienza University of Rome, it continues to promote innovation through research and to invest in training to educate the next generation of process professionals.
