State of Oklahoma leverages Celonis Process Intelligence technology to drive transparency and accountability

The State of Oklahoma, through the Office of Management and Enterprise Services, is using artificial intelligence to monitor how taxpayer dollars are being spent within state agencies. By using advanced data analytics, through global process intelligence company Celonis, OMES and agencies can examine how funds are spent. Oklahoma is utilizing the power of this new technology to enhance transparency, reduce inefficiencies and improve accountability across state operations.“By embracing technology, Oklahoma is leading the nation with its commitment to spend tax dollars responsibly,” said Gov. Kevin Stitt. “These efforts not only streamline day-to-day purchases within agencies but encourage state employees to maximize the value of every taxpayer dollar.”

The impact to state processes

The Celonis Process Intelligence Platform analyzes and optimizes an organization’s processes by examining data from various systems to visualize inefficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement. By leveraging Celonis’ AI-driven insights and real-time data, Oklahoma is achieving higher efficiency, cost savings and informed decision-making across state operations. This also creates a roadmap of actionable steps to help follow state procurement laws.Key benefits include:

• Cost savings: Celonis has flagged $6.8 billion in confirmed purchasing errors and inefficiencies within agencies. Through this platform, OMES identified $3.06 million in flagged purchase card transactions, helping agencies implement better controls.
• Efficiency gains: The platform reviews procurement data in minutes – tasks that previously took years – empowering faster, more accurate decision-making.
• Improved oversight: In fiscal year 2023, over $3 billion in purchases lacked oversight. Celonis flagged and analyzed these transactions, ensuring greater accountability.

State Chief Operating Officer and OMES Director Rick Rose highlighted, “Oklahoma is the first state to adopt Celonis’ groundbreaking technology for procurement and process optimization. The insights we gain allow us to strengthen our operations and address flagged purchases much sooner.”
