With Pride Month 2022 behind us, I wanted to take the time to reflect on the immense dedication and allyship to the LGBTQ+ community here at Celonis.
I’m so proud of all we were able to achieve this year, from company-wide events that raised visibility to the highest levels, to community discussions that allowed for vulnerability and community building, and fun in-person events that connected our community to our local offices.
Celonis kicked off Pride Month 2022 with a panel discussion on our weekly company All-Hands featuring leaders from Pride@Celonis, a Business Resource Group (BRG) for LGBTQ+ members and allies. Panel participants included:
Pride@Celonis executive sponsor Basti Nominacher, Co-CEO & CFO
Panel Moderator Maki Ciaramelli, Director, EMS Adoption
Pride@Celonis Panelist Kristina Bennin, VP of Customer Value Management, DACH
Pride@Celonis Panelist Mark Johnston, VP of Customer Value, US Midwest and Canada
Pride@Celonis Panelist Brandon Ortiz, VP Marketing
With 800 Celonauts tuning in around the world, the group discussed strides Celonis is taking to create a safe and healthy workspace for all, building diverse teams, the varying levels of support that exist for the LGBTQ+ community globally, and how to show up for one another. Later in the month, as Pride@Celonis Co-Chair, I had the pleasure of hosting writer, podcast host and activist Dylan Marron for a keynote event for 200 Celoanuts. Topics included intersectionality, having tough conversations, and allyship.
Pride@Celonis also partnered with the BRG Resilience@Celonis for an internal discussion on mental health in LGBTQ+ communities and what we can do at Celonis to create space and drive awareness. We facilitated breakout sessions to allow for deep conversation, and insights and suggestions shared for promoting mental health among this community are being considered across all BRGs. Lastly, Pride Month 2022 culminated with local celebrations in 7 cities: NYC, Munich, Madrid, London, Pristina, San Francisco and Raleigh, with donations to 3 nonprofit organizations: Bowery Mission, Proud Beer (and their network of charities), and Switchboard LGBTQ+ Helpline. From Drag Bingo to trees planted for every karaoke song sang - we celebrated globally and joyously!
Through our various events and celebrations, we had a few key takeaways from Pride 2022: - Everybody loves stickers.
- Showing up is an important part of allyship, but it takes active participation and support to drive real change.
- Karaoke is a great way to bring people together.
- Strong leaders are not afraid to be vulnerable. We’re excited to continue to celebrate and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year - and Pride@Celonis has lots of exciting plans for events and initiatives year-round.
I look forward to continuing our work of making Celonis a great place for LGBTQ+ employees and a leader in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights around the world. _________________________________________ Nitay Caspi (he/him) is a Senior Product Manager in the Accounts Payable solution suite, based in New York City.
